Blackjack a.k.a twenty-one is a basic card game, which is one of the most popular games in Casinos.
Understanding Blackjack
I personally do not know much about blackjack and just know a bit from online videos and what I saw in Las Vegas. This blog isn’t intended to be a deep dive into mastering the game or guaranteeing blackjack success.
Basic Common Game Rules
The assumption is that you already know a little bit about poker. For example, you should know that if the player goes over 21, you lose/bust.
- One Dealer + One - Six players
- One Pack of cards for simplicity. Casinos usually have Six packs to prevent players from card counting. (More about card counting in the later part of this blog).
- Player put the money on table first.
- Naturals/Blackjack:
An ace and a face card or ten dealt on the first two cards to either player or dealer constitutes a "natural" or "blackjack". [link] The player get paid x \(1.5\) of their original bet if they have Blackjack and the dealer does not have one.
- Splitting Pair: If you get a pair that has same value, for example, 6 and 6, you can split them into two hands. You will also have to put the original bet amount into the new hand.
- Push: Dealer and player has the same value.
- Dealer play last: This gives an edge to the dealer (house) because once you bust, you lose your original bet regardless of whether the dealer bust or not.
